A couple years ago, right around Christmas time, I got the hankering to bake sourdough bread. I’m kind of a bread freak…not the grocery store loaf, the artisan type of bread freak. I could do some serious damage to a loaf in one sitting! Of course, since it was before Christmas, I was asked what I wanted from my family and I replied baking stuff. How awesome it was to receive two beautiful books, The Bread Baker’s Apprentice and Tartine Bread.
I dove into those two books with the full intention of baking bread in the near future. An issue became clear when I realized that I needed to create a starter for sourdough bread, and this would take some time. At this time of my life, I was playing in 3 bands and winding down my photography business. It seemed that every time I had some time to get things started, I’d have to be gone over the weekend, or the starter wouldn’t start, or one of a dozen other reasons.
